KFOK-LPFM-GEORGETOWN BROADCASTER GUIDELINES ....a short summary......Broadcasting is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience for most of us but there is a lot involved besides just sitting behind the microphone and playing your favorite tunes. We ask that you first become a paid member of KFOK Communtiy Radio (a minimal $25 fee... you can of course contribute more). You will also need training in operating the equipment and there is a hold harmless agreement to fill out and sign. There are daily logs that need to be completed with each broadcast and you are required to attend quarterly broadcaster's meetings. While on air, broadcasters must adhere to FCC rules and regulations and make all the required announcements. Broadcasters are also required to earn "KFOK Service Points" by volunteering a minimal amount of time to the station which could include serving on one of our many committees, or helping out at a concert or community event when KFOK is involved. Things like building shelves, helping with our studio remodel, sign painting, equipment maintinance, office work, finding underwriters for our programing, reviewing CDs all qualify for "KFOK Service Hours". We will post more about volunteer opportunities and broadcaster responsibilities at a later date... for now much of that information is available in our Broadcasting Handbook which all applicants are required to read before beginning their training. You can either download the handbook or pruchase a hardcopy for $5.
