KFOK-LPFM-GEORGETOWN BROADCASTER GUIDELINES
....a short summary......
Broadcasting is a very enjoyable and rewarding experience for most of us but there is a lot involved besides just sitting behind the microphone and playing your favorite tunes. We ask that you first become a paid member of KFOK Communtiy Radio (a minimal $25 fee... you can of course contribute more). You will also need training in operating the equipment and there is a hold harmless agreement to fill out and sign. There are daily logs that need to be completed with each broadcast and you are required to attend quarterly broadcaster's meetings. While on air, broadcasters must adhere to FCC rules and regulations and make all the required announcements. Broadcasters are also required to earn "KFOK Service Points" by volunteering a minimal amount of time to the station which could include serving on one of our many committees, or helping out at a concert or community event when KFOK is involved. Things like building shelves, helping with our studio remodel, sign painting, equipment maintinance, office work, finding underwriters for our programing, reviewing CDs all qualify for "KFOK Service Hours". We will post more about volunteer opportunities and broadcaster responsibilities at a later date... for now much of that information is available in our Broadcasting Handbook which all applicants are required to read before beginning their training. You can either download the handbook or pruchase a hardcopy for $5.

THE 2005 EDITION OF THE "BROADCASTER HANDBOOK"
IS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE!

You can now get a complete picture of how KFOK operates and review our complete guidelines in advance of your training to make your transition into the world of broadcasting even easier than before. If you come with a print out of the handbook and can demonstrate that you have read and understood it's content you will not have to purchase a copy and can save yourself the $5 charge. Already certified broadcasters can also download this newly updated version so that they have all the current information on hand.

THE AIRSHIFT RENEWAL PROCESS FOR 2008 BEGINS MARCH 1st

As described in the KFOK Broadcaster's Handbook, broadcasters need to renew their airshift applications annually. A complete renewal package is now available by clicking the button below. Don't wait for the last minute. Download your renewal package now and make sure that you have the current "Hold-Harmless Agreement" on file with KFOK.

RENEWAL APPLICATIONS WILL BE DUE MARCH 31, 2008 - PLEASE INCLUDE A CHECK FOR $25 FOR THE ANNUAL BROADCASTER SUPPORT MEMBERSHIP FEE THAT MUST BE INCLUDED WITH ALL RENEWALS AND NEW APPLICATIONS. ONLY ONE FEE PER BROADCASTER, IT IS NOT PER SHOW.

During this time, you can make requests for program changes, time changes, content changes, title changes or all of the above. You may want to work with another broadcaster to swap time slots. The Program Committee will try to honor requests from broadcasters in good standing. The online broadcast calendar is current so you can check there to see what time slots are already available. It is anticipated that most programs will remain in the same time slots but the PC will do all that it can to accommodate the change requests that come in. We promise to work with all the broadcasters to insure that the process goes smoothly. The tentative new schedule will be developed in April. After consulting will all parties subject to change, the new schedule will take effect on April 30, 2008.
